Lead time = Supply delay (1 day) + Reordering delay (2 days) = 3 days Now, let’s assume that A takes 1 day to deliver milk to your warehouse. This means that the reordering delay for your milk supplier is 2 days. And supplier A accepts orders for milk only after every 2 days. įor example, let’s say your average daily sales or average daily usage for milk is 20 liters. Your safety stock lets you fulfill your orders while you wait for the supplier to replenish your stock. This means retailers need to anticipate this delay in delivery to maintain a safety stock or a buffer stock. Some suppliers may accept orders only a few times a week or month. Reordering delay is the time gap between a fulfilled order and the placement of the next order. Supply delay is the time a supplier takes to fulfill a customer order after it’s placed. Lead time (LT) = Supply Delay (SD) + Reordering Delay (RD) Lead time (LT) = Order Delivery Date – Order Request Dateīut in the context of inventory management, this formula also accounts for a reordering delay. Other factors : freight rates, regulations, availability of raw material, etc.īecause of these factors, lead time determines how much to stock and when to restock.īut just like you can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs, you can’t calculate lead time without its formula.Quantity : most suppliers define delivery dates based on how much you’ve ordered.Nature of goods : perishable goods need to have shorter lead times.Geography : if the delivery across the city or transcontinental. That’s why inventory management includes dealing with factors that affect lead time, like: Bad order management often causes serious and expensive damage to a business as it loses valuable customers and damages its reputation. This delay between consumer’s orders and production may result in more delays which can cause lead times to further deteriorate. When lead times get out of control, a vicious cycle can form with lead times worsening at increased demand. Poorly-managed lead times can mean stock can run out and customers can’t get their orders fulfilled. Managing timeframes is crucial to businesses. The Importance of lead time in inventory management Īnd a relatively short lead time is one of the best ways of ensuring this. The key? Always maintain just the right inventory level. If you order too little, you’ll have a long list of unsatisfied, hangry customers. Always have enough stock to fulfill all your orders. If the goods don’t get sold, you’ll end up with storage issues, a financial loss, and more (rotten) eggs than you can juggle! While managing it, you’ll need to be mindful of two things: This store of unsold goods is your inventory. And once you’ve sourced them, you’ll need to store them until you sell them. Since you don’t manufacture milk, cheese, or eggs, you’ll need to source them from a supplier. įor example, let’s say you run a grocery delivery business. Inventory management or inventory control. To answer this, we need to dig a little further into the world of However, for the purpose of this article, we’ll interpret lead time with reference to i nventory management and supply chain planning, as that’s where it’s most useful.īut why should you bother calculating this metric? For example, cooking and serving time in restaurants, transaction time in banking, or mobile app development and launch time in tech. Lead time is the time taken for one work unit to travel through the production and delivery cycle. Let’s get started! What Does Lead Time Mean? The Easiest Way To Manage Lead Time: ClickUp.

In this department, Hearts of Iron is kind of weak, although I suspect that's because there's so much detail and effort put into the technology tree. In fact, the game ships with only a paltry three (!) scenarios, far less than even the original Europa Universalis offered, and of them, only the main one (spanning 1936 to 1948) really offers much in the way of extended play. Alternate histories are part of the strength of the EU series, and the omission of these possible scenarios weakens the game. How would things have been different if the Allies hadn't imposed such a harsh peace on Germany? The rise of the fascists in Germany wasn't guaranteed, and likewise the civil war in Russia could've gone the other way. I also would've liked some scenarios that had begun as far back as 1918 or 1919, right after the end of the Great War. That is no fun, and this is a flaw of the EU series, something Civilization does better - letting the player keep playing as long as they want to, rather than arbitrarily forcing an end. Ending the game at 1948 just feels too soon, often you'll be in the middle of some great struggle and the game just peters out on you. The years between 19 certainly were tumultuous and are of great historical interest, but I was disappointed to find that there weren't any scenarios offering greater stretches of time, allowing for even more alternate histories. That said, one problem I have with the time scale is the rather narrow historical window the game plays in. By coordinating attacks, you can time it so different forces from different provinces - armor and infantry, air units and motorized troops - all hit the enemy at the same time, thus letting you concentrate your firepower in one area. For example, travel from one province to another depends on the speed of the units making the trip and the type of terrain that has to be crossed. This means it's now possible to coordinate the attacks of multiple units precisely. Whereas in EU you're dealing with days, months, years, and even decades and centuries, the smallest unit here is the hour, which is much more appropriate for modern warfare. Also important is the time scale of the game. I don't think leaders can die by chance in combat it's never happened to me, although I did notice a bug wherein some of the generic leaders (in this case, my Italian air force commanders) dismissed to the officer pool sometimes wouldn't reappear, wasting valuable experience points. A nice touch is that many of the leader units have historical pictures that help individuate them, and they also have specialties - Rommel is a "Trickster" who gets surprise and camouflage bonuses, while Zhukov is a tank leader, best suited to leading the Red Army's armored formations. Individual units do not gain experience but their leaders do, and it behooves you to constantly put your best leaders in the thick of the fighting to maximize use of their bonuses, as well as give them even more experience and superior skill. I was also disappointed by the inability to rename your divisions, corps, and armies so that they're easier to keep track of - an oversight common to all the EU-engine games. This is a bizarre and unfortunate design decision. Unfortunately the designers chose to name the provinces after the major city in each area, which is fine for obvious locales like Paris or Berlin but trying to find "lost" armies by means of the obscure and forgotten colony names in the heart of Africa, for example, is quite a chore, and no American would ever refer to our states by their capital cities, most of which we can't even name. state (although the scale varies from place to place around the world - smaller for densely populated areas, to quite large for undeveloped wilderness). The smallest ground unit is the division, and the basic geographic unit is a province, a region of land roughly equal to a typical U.S. The results of individual battles are determined by chance, as well as the quality, composition, morale, leadership, and numbers of the units you've thrown into the fray. But in terms of your combat decision-making, your role is to produce as many technologically sophisticated units as you can, as quickly as you can, and maneuver them into position so they can deliver as much damage as possible. Strategy on a grand scale Hearts of Iron isn't by any means a tactical game, it's strategy on a grand scale, closer to Axis & Allies than Squad Leader, although in terms of complexity it's more like the latter. And now that I've been playing the game non-stop for the last couple weeks, I can say that Hearts of Iron, while having some notable drawbacks, is a solid addition to the EU line and the Paradox name. So when I heard the same developers were making a World War II-based game using a modified version of the EU engine, I was quite intrigued. This is one more of the series which are supposedly for the kids but I still love the hell out of these books and like me some Wimpy kid action here and there. Then inside there were food stains on some of the pages. The front cover was covered in some black/gray substance, and I wasn't sure if it was part of the cover design. My copy of the book that I got from the library seemed particularly dirty for some reason. I think I only laughed out loud once, but still, I enjoyed the humor, and the book brought a few smiles to my face. While the last book they went on a getaway to a beach resort amidst winter, in this book, the family was back home, living through the cold winter. Is there Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan-fic? lol I do wonder when Greg will graduate to high school? It doesn't seem like ever, since the intended audience is middle school. I guess to continue this series, Jeff Kinney sometimes has to introduce new things that weren't there in previous books. I don't remember him ever living on a hill though, with there being a big divide between those living on the hill & those on the bottom? And a list and description of all his neighbors, which I have felt should have been included in the first (few) book(s). This book made me nostalgic for my childhood in New Jersey, where I spent the winters playing outside in the snow and building snowmen (when the snow was good enough for it, which was rare). I quite enjoyed this as much of this happens in real life and I laughed a lot reading this. This book didn't have much to do with Greg's family but I quite liked how the neighboring kids are fighting among each other. His dad has other ideas though and Greg ends up listening to his dad and makes a fort but other kids catch on pretty quick and they all build snow forts and then there's a battlefield and everyone is out to get each other. When they get attacked by other kids with snowballs, Greg runs home and tells his parents what happened but his mum says that conflict is a part of growing up. Having no other choice, he has to stay outside in the snow with Rowley and build an igloo to stay warm. On top of that, his mum has started the screen free weekends as she thinks that technology isn't doing much good to him. Greg wants to get a snowmobile but his parents tell him reasons why a middle grader can't have a snow mobile. There's a heat wave in the middle of winter and everyone is out enjoying the sun only to find out that the next day it's cold again and it's snowing. I will admit that this book still suffers from the frequent use of silhouettes that the author used a lot during this period, but I still really enjoyed this book. Potentially, this book wouldn't be as good if this was your first Wimpy Kid book, but upon reading the previous books in the series, I really enjoyed this one. I love this one, and I'd definitely recommend it. I don't know what has kept me going on with the series for so long, but I'm sure glad I have because even after reading this book twice, I still consider this my personal favorite Wimpy Kid book. The warfare is intense, strategical, and hilarious, and this book is filled with the classic Wimpy Kid humor. This book is everything I wanted out of a Wimpy Kid book. The next day everyone copies their castle idea, and it's all-out warfare across the neighborhood. They also end up building a snow castle but then that gets destroyed as well. Greg is forced to go outside and play, so he gets Rowley and together they build an igloo. This book has a very snowy setting, and it depicts Greg's town in winter. The Meltdown is yet another book about Greg Heffley and his journey through middle school. This book is my favorite Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. Gutwein is used to getting such correspondence out of the blue. Based on the counselor’s recommendation, Flory sent an email to Gutwein early in 2021. A counselor at Bidunga’s high school was familiar with Kokomo’s international program, which currently includes more than 100 students who live in a campus dormitory. His father is an engineer and his mother is a successful businesswoman, and both are firm believers in the importance of education and value of travel. Rather, Bidunga’s decision to finish his high school education in the U.S. He fared well but didn’t do anything to augur a big-time future. It wasn’t until Flory was 12 years old that a family friend, noting his height, suggested he try basketball. I can’t let all these things get into my head, so I just have to try to focus and do my thing.”īidunga’s nifty footwork is another enticing asset, one which he attributes to his years playing soccer while growing up in the DRC capital of Kinshasa. “I feel good, but nothing has really changed. “Yeah, it does surprise me,” he told The Athletic after Sunday’s championship win over Utah Prospects. The recent surge is just one more layer of unfamiliarity Bidunga has had to adjust to since coming to the States, but so far he is sounding all the right notes. “It’s nice to see someone like him see the hard work pay off.” “The scary thing is he’s probably a better kid than he is a basketball player,” Peckinpaugh says. Moreover, Bidunga plays the game with a high motor and cheerful demeanor, and by all accounts he is extremely coachable. He is equally dominant on the defensive end. He is a prolific dunker who catches post entries in traffic, finishes with both hands (he’s a natural lefty), is a rapid repeat jumper, and routinely beats guards down the floor. He stands a chiseled 6-foot-9 and 215 pounds, with long arms and unusual bounce for a player his size. And he’s only going to get bigger and stronger the next few years.”įor a guy who flew under the radar for so long, Bidunga sure is hard to miss. He’s not as polished as some of the other guys, but he’s got a great body, great hands, great feel for the game, gives great effort. “I’m not the lone ranger on that based on the college coaches I’ve spoken to. “I’ve seen all the top players in that class, and he’s a much better prospect than any of them,” says Frank Burlison, a veteran recruiting scout who watched Bidunga in action last week as well as at the prestigious NBPA Top 100 camp in Orlando last month. 1 prospect in the Class of 2024, he’s awfully close. The five-day, five-game stretch confirmed what is rapidly becoming understood in basketball circles: If Bidunga is not the consensus No. His ascent continued unabated last week at the Adidas 3SSB Open, where Bidunga overpowered the competition and led his Indiana Elite squad to the Under 16 championship. No doubt those outlets will make a similar adjustment to the one recently made by Rivals, where Bidunga went from unranked to No. Even now, he remains unlisted in the 247Sports Composite, which includes the top 86 players in the class. Two months ago, Flory Bidunga’s name did not appear in any of the major national recruiting rankings for the Class of 2024. Just 10 months later, this tall young man with the high ceiling has outgrown every expectation and then some. After that first workout, I figured he had a good chance to turn into a pretty good player.” “The way he picked up on things, even with the language barrier, was impressive. “You could see the raw, natural ability was there,” Peckinpaugh says. He had heard that the new arrival had not played basketball for very long, but it didn’t take long for Peckinpaugh to realize the student had considerable potential. Peckinpaugh, 33, was about to start his first season as Kokomo’s basketball coach. John Peckinpaugh was understandably intrigued when the shy, polite young man from Congo alighted in Indiana a few months later.
